UPDATES: Blog changes, Lifestyle, Personal style etc

Its been about 5 months since my last blog post. I could say I have been extremely busy with law school and other stuff and that’s why I haven’t posted anything, but to be honest it has to do with the fact that I felt a bit lost. I wasn’t sure of the kind of content I wanted to post or whether I had found the right balance between not showing off, revealing too much about my life, being culturally appropriate, and staying true to myself. I guess I needed a little time to figure out exactly what I wanted. I still haven’t totally figured it out, but I’ve decided to take it one step at a time.

During this time, a lot of things have obviously changed. I mean 5 months is a looooong time! I would like to point out the most obvious change, my blog layout. Other than that I would say my personal style, lifestyle and priorities have changed. You know that feeling that you get when you realise you are actually adulting correctly for once in your life? No? Me neither! lol. I’m still trying to perfect it, although I doubt anyone really has. However, I can say that I’m slowly getting there. Anyway enough of my ramblings, lets talk about updates.

Well if you are reading this right now or have checked out my last post it means that you have obviously seen the new layout. So tell me how do you like it? Personally i’d say my favourite thing about it would be the the picture slides of my recent posts. I was trying to go for a more minimalistic vibe. I love it! I hope it makes it more appealing for readers. Shout out to the amazing photographer, blogger and creative designer, Zainab aka @officialshona on Instagram for coming through! She redesigned the blog and was patient with my very indecisive self. Thanks so much!

For anyone that is interested in revamping their blog or even creating a new website for their business or anything else I’ll put a link on her Instagram handle @officialshona so you can contact her.

While I’m on holiday, I’ve decided to take on more creative projects and create more content for the blog. I will be putting up a blog post every Thursday (unless Nigerian internet fails of course). The content will still remain true to the original concept of the blog. However, I think the first time I tried this, I failed to explore my creativity – this will be my new focus point. I’m super excited to share what I have planned and fingers crossed you will love it!

I believe a lot of my priorities and also outlook on life has changed. I have a new set of goals I would like to achieve, as well as new ways to organise myself and cope. I would love to share the new hacks that I have learnt from skincare, health and fitness, to hair, to self love and mental health. Of course I’m not an expert at any of these things but I’m always happy to share what works for me because you never know who may benefit from it. I’d also like to talk about things to do in Abuja. There’s this misconception that there is never anything to do, but I do believe there are a lot of activities that people are completely unaware of. Even though Abuja is not exactly as ‘lit’ as Lagos, I’d like to prove that we don’t just go out to eat cupcakes and shawarma.

As I grow older my style changes… I don’t find the need to follow trends but rather dress to my own comfort. One thing I have noticed that has surprised me is the influence my culture has on my style. When I was younger I never really liked dressing in traditional clothing, in fact I hated how I looked in it. Im not sure if it is because I feel more connected to my culture and celebrate it more or because the Nigerian Fashion Industry is growing vastly, but I find myself drawn to Nigerian fashion.

Don’t get me wrong though I still love retro style, 90s culture, loosely fit clothes and sneakers but there’s just something about dressing up in traditional wear that makes me feel so glamorous. I’m not sure if this makes any sense, but I do intend to share content that will hopefully elaborate and showcase what I’m talking about.

On that note, I’m looking forward to creating more content and sharing with you all! I’m sorry this post is super long but if you have made it this far, you are the real MVP!

Thanks for reading!
